Marshall Radio Worldwide
Effective Date: November 2026
This privacy policy describes the personal data collected or processed when you use Marshall Radio Telemetry’s websites (“Sites”), mobile applications (“Apps”), and related hardware (including PocketLink receivers). It also explains how your personal data is used, shared and protected, what choices you have relating to your personal data, and how you can contact us.
Marshall Radio Telemetry (referred to as “Marshall Radio Telemetry,” “our,” “we” or “us” in this privacy policy) is the entity responsible for the personal data described here. We are established in the United States. Where required under applicable law (including the EU General Data Protection Regulation), we have appointed a representative in the European Economic Area. Contact details for the representative can be obtained by emailing app-support@marshallradio.com.
Our services are not directed to children under 16 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
We ask you for certain personal data to provide you with the products or services you request. For example, when you make purchases, contact our consumer services, request to receive communications, create an account, participate in our events or contests, or use our Sites or Apps.
This personal data includes your:
We collect additional personal data only when needed to enable particular features you choose to use. For example, we request access to your phone’s location data so the app can calculate distance from your device to the bird you are tracking.
Movement data from your device’s accelerometer is collected only while you are actively recording a flight. This data is stored on your device and is uploaded to our servers only if you have enabled cloud backup.
If you choose to use AeroVision Network features, we process the information you voluntarily provide within that network (such as your screen name, profile details you set, and content you post or share inside AeroVision Network). We do not collect credentials or content from external social networks unless you explicitly choose to connect an account to post content from the App.
When interacting with our Sites and Apps, certain data is automatically collected from your device or web browser. This data includes device type, operating system, and region. Our Sites may also use cookies and similar technologies; you can control these through your browser settings.
When you enable SafetyNet, your PocketLink receiver may detect signals from other participants’ transmitters and contribute anonymized or encrypted location information solely for the purpose of helping the owner of that transmitter locate their bird. We do not collect or retain identifiable information about you in connection with these contributions. We do not disclose your identity or your precise location to the owner of any other bird, to other users, or to third parties. Location contributions are protected so that Marshall Radio Telemetry cannot identify the contributing PocketLink or view the precise location in plaintext.
When using our Apps and Sites, we provide in-time notice or obtain consent for certain practices. For example, we will obtain consent to use your location or send push notifications. We may obtain this consent through the Apps or Sites or using the standard permissions available on your device.
You can disable SafetyNet participation at any time in the AeroVision app settings. Disabling SafetyNet stops your PocketLink from contributing to or benefiting from the network for other users’ birds. Your ability to track your own birds is not affected.
In many cases, your web browser or mobile device platform will provide additional tools to allow you to control when your device collects or shares particular categories of personal data. For example, your mobile device or web browser may offer tools to allow you to manage cookie usage or location sharing. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with and use the tools available on your devices.
We use your personal data for the following purposes and on the following legal bases (where applicable under the GDPR and similar laws):
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. The only circumstances in which your personal data is shared are:
We may transfer personal data we have about you in the event we sell or transfer all or a portion of our business or assets (including in the event of a reorganization, spin-off, dissolution, or liquidation). In such a case, the receiving party will be required to honor the commitments made in this privacy policy.
We are based in the United States and may transfer personal data to the United States and other countries. Where required by applicable law (including the GDPR), we implement appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. SafetyNet location contributions are encrypted or otherwise protected in a manner that minimizes the identifiable personal data transferred.
When you use certain features on AeroVision Network, you can create a profile that may include information such as your screen name, profile picture, and hometown. You can also share content with other AeroVision Network users or the public, including information about your flight tracking activity. We encourage you to use the tools we provide for managing sharing to control what information you make available.
Encryption and Security: We use a variety of technical, administrative, and organizational security measures, including encryption and authentication tools in certain circumstances, to maintain the safety of your personal data. Despite our efforts, no website, mobile application, database, or system is completely secure or “hacker proof.” You can help keep your data safe by taking reasonable steps to protect your personal information against unauthorized disclosure or misuse.
Retention of Your Personal Data: We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless otherwise required by law. For example, we keep your account profile information for as long as you keep your account, but we may keep your order history longer to comply with legal obligations. Anonymized or encrypted location contributions made via SafetyNet are retained only for the short period necessary to deliver the location to the bird’s owner and are then deleted. Movement data collected during a flight remains on your device unless you have enabled cloud backup; when cloud backup is enabled, the backed-up flight data is stored on our servers under the same security and retention rules that apply to other account data.
Managing Your Personal Data: Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:
Where we have obtained your consent for the processing of your personal data, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority in your country of residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement.
If you have a request regarding your personal data that cannot be fulfilled from your account settings, please contact us. Contact details can be found in the “Questions and Feedback” section below.
Managing Your Content: You can request removal of your posted user-generated content on the Site or App, but please note that removal may not encompass all possible locations — for example, back-ups or sharing by other users initiated prior to removal.
Managing Your Notifications: If you have an AeroVision account, you can opt out of receiving marketing communications by modifying the preferences in your account settings. Alternatively, you can opt out by following the unsubscribe instructions in the message or by contacting us. Contact details are in the “Questions and Feedback” section below.
Our Apps use the following third-party services to provide core functionality. Their respective privacy policies apply to data they process:
Applicable law and our practices change over time. If we decide to update our privacy policy, we will post the changes on our Sites and Apps. If we materially change the way in which we process your personal data, we will provide you with prior notice, or where legally required, request your consent prior to implementing such changes. We strongly encourage you to read our privacy policy and keep yourself informed of our practices.
We welcome questions, comments, and concerns about our privacy policy and privacy practices.
